Quick Start Guide

6 steps to start using HiveDrive properly
ellipsis

1. Create a project and store your data in the HiveDrive Windows folder

To generate a new project just enter the name of this project and click on the "Create" button. A folder will be automatically generated within the HiveDrive instance in Windows and you can place all the project files you want to use in that folder. By creating a project you automatically become an administrator of that project, so you will have all the highest privileges. Warning! If the Revit files we want to work on are not saved inside the Windows HiveDrive folder, they will not be associated with the application. As a data protection tool, it is also always necessary to open the HiveDrive application in order to have access to the folders and files, otherwise it will not be possible to view them.

2. Activate the HiveDrive menu at the right-click of the mouse button

With this easy feature you will be able to make critical decisions on your files, such as sending the file directly on HiveDrive chat to your collaborators, keeping the file always synchronized, returning to the previous version of the file and managing the security options (reading, modification, deletion) for each collaborator in the project. If the menu does not appear at the first start, just close and exit HiveDrive and re-enter immediately afterwards.

3. Invite your colleagues and collaborators to work on your project

Inviting to collaborate on HiveDrive is very simple. Using the "Add" button just enter the email of the collaborator who will automatically receive an invitation via HiveDrive with instructions on how to download and install the software, accept the invitation and start working. HiveDrive will then create an address book in which you can invite the same person to other projects by typing just his first name and last name.

4. Chat on files and send Revit selections

HiveDrive has an integrated chat that will be opened both on HiveDrive client and inside the HiveDrive Revit add-in, which will install automatically together with the client. It will thus be possible to communicate instantly and save conversations directly to individual files and, if necessary, to highlight parts of the project and send them as a link through the chat to collaborators, who in this way will be able to remotely open exactly the detail on which they will have to work, enabling a real simultaneous collaborative work.

5. Does your team work at different hours and you want to make files always accessible for everyone? Install HiveDrive HUB! It's free!

Working in hybrid mode, sometimes connected to the internet and sometimes offline, can cause file synchronization problems. For this reason we have built the free HiveDrive HUB component, which performs important functions such as Accelerator (improving performance as users increase), Backup (to not lose any file revision) and, if necessary, Project Safer (marking itself as guarantor of the integrity of the project). Later this component will enable the Project Management features currently under development. For more information please visit also our FAQ section.
NOTE: You will find the HiveDrive HUB .exe file within your SilentWave reserved area, as an optional add-on. If you are encountering any problem to install it, feel free to contact the HiveDrive Support Team here.

6. Go to HiveDrive Gateway, your web access to HiveDrive

HiveDrive Gateway is a web portal where you can monitor and manage your invitations to projects, the projects you administer or are invited to, your PCs on which you have installed HiveDrive and the HiveDrive HUBs. You can reach it at this address: gateway.hivedrive.eu or with the "Login" button on the main menu in the header of our HiveDrive website: hivedrive.eu.
